Terms of Service

Last updated: 5 November 2026

Welcome to RxScanTalk. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the RxScanTalk application and website (the "App"), operated by [Your Company/Your Name] ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. What RxScanTalk Is

RxScanTalk provides medication information for educational purposes only, drawing on publicly available data sources including RxNorm, DailyMed, Medsafe (NZ), TGA/ARTG (Australia), and eMC/MHRA (UK). RxScanTalk is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

2. Not Medical Advice

The App does not provide medical advice. Information provided through scanning, reminders, or any other feature is for general educational purposes only and should never be used as the sole basis for a medical decision. Always consult a licensed physician, pharmacist, or other qualified healthcare provider regarding any questions about a medication, dosage, interaction, or health condition. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you read or heard on this App. Your dose log is your own record: it shows only what you tapped, it is not a medical record, and it does not replace the clinical records kept by your provider.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or have permission from a parent or legal guardian, to create an account and use the App.

4. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: • Use the App for any unlawful purpose • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract the App's underlying data or code • Misrepresent scan results or medication information to others in a way that could cause harm • Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality or servers

6. Medication Data Accuracy

While we source data from reputable regulatory and reference databases, we cannot guarantee that all information is complete, current, or error-free. Medication data, formulations, and regulatory approvals change over time and may vary by country. Always verify critical information with your pharmacist, doctor, or the medication's official packaging/label.

7. Provider-Submitted Content

RxScanTalk allows healthcare providers (such as doctors, pharmacists, or other licensed professionals) to speak or type the dose and timing for a reminder directly into the App on the patient's behalf. When this feature is used: RxScanTalk captures only the structured dose and timing information provided — not a recording of the conversation. Spoken input is converted to this structured reminder data and is not stored or retained as audio. RxScanTalk acts solely as a pass-through for this reminder data. We do not verify, interpret, edit, or add to it. The reminder will clearly label provider-submitted content with the name (or identifier) of the submitting provider and the date/time it was entered, where that information is available. This content exists only within the reminder itself. The user has full control over it at all times and may delete it immediately, after listening to it once, or at any later point of their choosing. The accuracy and appropriateness of any provider-submitted dose or timing is the sole responsibility of the healthcare provider who submitted it. RxScanTalk does not independently confirm the identity, licensure, or credentials of any person submitting content as a "healthcare provider." Medication reference information (such as safety information sourced from RxNorm, DailyMed, Medsafe, TGA/ARTG, or eMC/MHRA) is separate from provider-submitted reminder data. It comes from those official databases where a record is found, and is summarised into plain language with the help of AI. When no official record is found, it is prepared by AI from general knowledge. AI summaries can contain mistakes and may differ from the original text. Always check your medicine label, package or pharmacist. Users should always confirm directly with their healthcare provider if any dose or timing delivered through a reminder seems unclear, unexpected, or inconsistent with prior guidance.

8. Pharmacy Label Reminders

When you use 'From my pharmacy label', your photo is sent to a third-party AI service (Google Gemini) that transcribes the printed text; RxScanTalk does not keep the photo and does not verify the text. When the label states a single clear dose, the directions are embedded in your reminder's pre-built spoken message, which is synced to RxScanTalk's servers, and may be sent to RxScanTalk's speech service to generate an audio alert. When the dose is a range or unclear, the directions are shown on the reminder card but are not spoken; only the dose for that time is spoken. See the Privacy Policy for full details on where this text is stored and how to remove it.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, [Your Company/Your Name] and its affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App, including but not limited to any decisions made based on information provided by the App. The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless [Your Company/Your Name] from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.

11. Changes to the App or Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the App at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time; continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or use the App in a way that could cause harm to us, other users, or third parties.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [New Zealand], without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

14. Contact
